This desert excursion is a standard 2.5 to 3-hour trip centered around quad biking. The timing is fixed to occur during either the sunrise or sunset period. After hotel pickup (the time will be confirmed seasonally when you book), you will ride the quad bike in a guide-led convoy within the approved safari zone for approximately one hour. The route includes scheduled stops for photography and taking in the views. You will then stop at an open Bedouin tent for a serving of hot, mint tea. Following the tea break and sunset/sunrise viewing, you will ride back to the quad center for your hotel drop-off.

    Route and Safety Policy

    • Authorized Zone: All excursions operate strictly within the single, officially approved, and fenced safari zone designated by the government.
    • Convoy Protocol: The route must be strictly followed in a convoy, led by your guide.
    • Scheduled Breaks: The journey includes planned stops for rest and taking photos.

    Camel Ride Advisory

    • Option: Participants who wish to ride a camel must notify the guide or directly approach a Bedouin on site.
    • Tipping: Tipping the Bedouins is customary but remains fully at your personal discretion.

    Equipment Rules (Weight and Usage)

    • Weight Limits: If you're booking one ATV for two people, the total weight needs to be no more than 150 kg (or 330 pounds).
    • Required Adjustment: Exceeding the limit requires a separate ATV, which incurs an extra charge equal to the price difference.
    • No Refund If You Don't Show Up: If you've booked but then decide not to ride with your partner, no refund will be issued.
    • Passenger Assignment: If the separated person is unable to drive the ATV, they will be assigned as a passenger to their partner or the instructor, and the price difference will still be charged(no refund).

    Legal and Fleet Standards

    • Minimum Age: The minimum age for operating equipment, per Egyptian law, is 15 years old.
    • ATV Classification: ATVs in Egypt are standardized and not marketed as separate single- or double-seaters. The excursion price includes the equipment rental and roundtrip hotel transfers.
    • Equipment Upkeep: Due to economic factors in Egypt affecting fleet updates to the latest models; equipment condition is under constant inspection and maintenance to ensure good working order.
    What to bring

      Essential Gear

      • Sunglasses (Mandatory): Absolutely required. The desert sand is very fine; driving without eye protection will make it impossible to keep your eyes open.
      • Headwear (Keffiyeh / Shemagh): Necessary to wrap around your head and face (like a mask) to filter dust and protect from the sun.
      • Closed-Toe Shoes (Strict Rule): Sandals or flip-flops are forbidden. The quad engine generates significant heat near the ankles, and protective footwear is needed against loose, kicked-up rocks. Wear old sneakers you do not mind getting dusty.
💰 Cost Saver Tip: Buy your protective headwear (scarf/shemagh) at the "Old Market" or near your hotel in advance for major savings. Prices at the Quad Center are significantly marked up.

      Logistics & Health

      • Hydration: Bring a bottle of water from your hotel. Water sold at the quad centers is often priced three times higher.
      • Sunscreen: Apply a generous amount before leaving your hotel. You will be exposed to direct sunlight for approximately one hour.
      • Small Cash: Carry small Egyptian Pounds (50s or 100s) or single US Dollars. This is needed for optional but customary guide tipping or to purchase additional beverages (like soda) at the Bedouin tent.
      • Camera Safety: If bringing a mobile phone, ensure it is secured in a zippered pocket. The bumpy ride can cause loose items in shallow pockets to bounce out and be permanently lost in the sand.
